District 4 Three Rivers League 1987-2006 (see District 9)
Three Rivers League Like the Mt. Hood League, Three Rivers came into existence before the 1982-1983 school year. The follow- ing year, a member school, Milwaukie, was able to capture a state team championship. Taking an indi- vidual title for them was their 191 pounder, Mike Blakey. The league has three state champoions in 1991, when Oregon City claimed two and West Linn one. The league captured three titles again in 1992. George Johnston of Oregon City and James Sisson of Milwaukie were not only state champions but four time district champions as well. Triple Crown winners include Ellery Mortenson of Milwaukie in 1987, Jake Sherer of Lakeridge in 1994 and Brian Watson of Canby in 1996. Following the dissolution of the Willamette League, and the assigning of Canby and Molalla to Three Rivers, the league was designated District 4-AAA (now 4A). Previously, it had been District 9- AAA.
